What Difference Does SEED Make?

SEED works with organizations and programs at three stages of intensity: 1) episodic, short-term, single tool applications, 2) developmental, multi-tool training services, and 3) ongoing coaching and supports.

As can be seen in the chart below, the majority of our current work is in the first category, involving a specific, time-limited service. Specifically, we are delivering the SEED Diagnostic to 100 youth development programs in the State of Illinois. This is a 3-hour process that results in a comprehensive set of performance scores, with action plans for immediate implementation. An additional 30 programs have one-year subscriptions to use SEED’s online Journey Mapping tool. Staff and program participants log on to customized, password-protected sites, where they reflect on their program experiences, track progress along development or learning scales, and indicate achievement of outcomes.

In the developmental, multi-tool stage, SEED currently has five active clients who are benefitting from multiple tools and training services. The SEED Diagnostic, evaluation-related tools, and our Six-Month Stretch planning and monitoring process are SEED’s combined offerings for these five current clients. SEED is also walking alongside two additional organizations, providing more intensive coaching and supports as they clarify shared vision and values, refine their mission, strengthen their internal structure, and take actions to greatly expand their reach and impact.

Our vision at SEED is a world saturated with highly effective, results-oriented social programs that engage people from many sectors of society to meet many areas of need and opportunity. To this end, SEED tools foster group reflection, creative action planning, monitoring and assessment, as well as efficient ways to capture and report valid results.

Ours is a strength-based approach. We know from experience that with very little of the right catalysts, most groups can awaken significantly more of the assets and potential they already possess. That is what SEED aims to provide through our tools. We are working to reach the largest possible swath of promising initiatives with the minimal dosage of SEED methodology. This, we are convinced, will unleash their best collective work along with their capacity to demonstrate results.
